Do you have a monochromatic kitchen? Would you like to spice it up by adding some colorful accents?
Do you want to do the above, but don’t want to spend too much?
If you are thinking of remaking the whole kitchen just because you need more color into it is not going to save you from spending. You do know that having a kitchen redo would cost your wallet to get empty.
If you aren’t thinking of renovating but still want to create a brighter, more colorful kitchen, then these top few tips might help you save your piggy bank from getting empty (not slim).
Furniture & Equipment
If and only if you have extra budget for new kitchen tools which are colored, you may add them too. What about incorporating stools in your kitchen? If you are going to buy stools, why don’t you buy colors other than black or white?
Rugs are Not Rags
Yes, rugs are not rags because they can bring color to your kitchen. If you have a stash of some colorful rugs, use them in your kitchen. They can accentuate and add drama to a bare kitchen.
Display Your Kitchen Towels
Kitchen towels can also help, especially if they come in different patterns! If you are feeling bold and uninhibited to unleash your creativity, you can use towels with an assortment of colors and place them strategically in different spots in your kitchen to give that ‘pop’ of color. It is, however, suggested that you stick to one color so your kitchen doesn’t look to vibrant.
Make Use of Tiles
You don’t only use tiles on your counters and on your floor, they can be used on walls too! If you want the look of your kitchen to pop, then using tiles may be the solution. And if you have got a wide space between two cabinets and even in between the cabinets and counters, use tiles. Your kitchen wall would thank you after. Any type, size and pattern of the tiles will do. Feeling like you need more drama? Add black and white tiles to a white wall! Oh so dramatic!
Don’t Ditch the Dishes
You are done with the cabinets, walls and kitchen towels. And you thought you are done, or so at least almost done but then, there still is something missing. And you thought how can you eat when you don’t have dishes? Yes, don’t forget the dishes. They help you not only eat but also decorate! When decorating, use dishes as a centerpiece. Choose a dish that you don’t use or not going to use. Place this somewhere on the counter and voila! Colorful kitchen. Any texture and color would do. It all depends on you! If you love cookies and candies, store them in jars and place colored ribbons around the rim. If you want to find out who stole the cookies from the cookie jar, you won’t find the answer anywhere.
Now you are almost done with your kitchen makeover. Have you ever wondered if you could make it even more eye-catching? The next time you head to your local grocery store, grab more of your favorite fruits or plants or flowers. Grab a transparent bowl and put your fruits into it. Make it colorful by adding a variety of fruits. If at any time of the day you feel like eating one, go ahead. Replacing the eaten one all depends on you. Just make sure the bowl doesn’t look so bare and empty.
Plants & Trees
Indoor plants and trees can equally be used in the kitchen as a centerpiece or corner piece to add color to your kitchen.
Be a Painter
…But not exactly like Picasso.
You don’t have to be like Picasso when it comes to painting. If you have got a white kitchen, meaning everything is white including the fridge and the oven, then you might want to look for some paint cans of your favorite color. Paint your cabinets and drawers to the color of your liking. Now that isn’t so stressful, Picasso!
So, there you have it, some of the few, but easy and affordable tips to add a splash of color to your kitchen. Decorating doesn’t always entail having money to spend. With some helpful tips and creativity, you would be surprised with how your kitchen would look after. Wouldn’t it be wonderful cooking and baking in the kitchen you decorated so simply?
